Recertification - professional activities
For the Recertification Programme, midwives must collect a minimum of 50 points of elective education and professional activities over each three year period. Over each three year period, a minimum of 15 points must be for elective education, a minumum of 15 points must be for professional activities and the remaining minimum 20 points must be obtained through either elective education, professional activites or a combination of both. The total number of points required and their allocation was reduced as a result of the Council's consultation about the Recertification Programme (carried out at the end of 2007) and applies from 1 April 2008.
The document below lists professional activities which have already had points allocated. Midwives may also self-allocate points for professional activity according to criteria set by the Council. These criteria are also in the document below. Midwives engaged in some other activity which is neither pre-approved nor falling within the criteria for self allocation may write to or email Council with a description of the activity and a request that points be allocated.
For all activities, midwives should describe the activity and briefly reflect on their learning and professional development in their portfolio.
